The Gospel
In order to personally enjoy peace with God…You must acknowledge
that you are a sinner.
In the beginning God created us in His own likeness.
|
And God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness: and
let them have dominion…(Genesis 1:26a). |
Even though God created us in His own image, He gave us the ability
to choose.
|
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not
eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely
die” (Genesis 2:17). |
We made the choice! Adam ate of the forbidden tree and so now all of
us are sinners.
| |
Wherefore, as by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and
death by sin; and so death passed upon all men…(Romans 5:12). |
You are now separated from God by your sin and cannot work your way
back to God.
Through the ages we have tried to reach God through many ways. We
have tried to be religious or to be moral. We have joined
churches, given money, said prayers. We have gone through rites and
ceremonies. In each we will only find failure.
The Bible is very clear as to what place our efforts (works) play.
| |
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified
in His sight (Romans 3:20a). |
| |
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:
it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast
(Ephesians 2:8-9). |
There is only one way to gain eternal life and be at peace with
God.
| |
Jesus saith unto him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man
cometh unto the Father, but by Me” (John 14:6). |
| |
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting
life (John 3:16). |
God provided the way. You must make the decision…You must take God
at His word. You must believe!
We come to Christ on the basis of belief; a total conviction that
Jesus was who He said, namely God. Faith is not merely a
mental or academic exercise. You must place complete trust in
the finished work of Calvary as the only means of your salvation.
How do you then respond to God?
| |
…the word of faith, which we preach; that if thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that
God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (Romans
10:8b-9). |
The Apostle Paul put forth the gospel in plain words when he spoke
to the church of Corinth. There he said,
| |
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto the gospel which I preached unto
you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which
also ye are saved…how that Christ died for our sins according to the
Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third
day according to the Scriptures (I Corinthians 15:1-4). |
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Call
upon Him today. Reach out in true faith and trust Him alone
for your eternal destiny. If you truly believe on Him, the
Bible says you are saved and sealed by the Holy Spirit.
| |
…the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of
redemption (Ephesians 4:30). |
God wants us to live lives that are pleasing unto Him.
Salvation means you have been saved from something (eternal
punishment/death) unto something (eternal reward/life). Turn
your back on your wicked ways and give everything over to the Lord.
Allow Him to live in you.
